Words in italics are channeled message from Divine Source:
Addictions are in many forms. People who have addictions have lost their power. They look without for their purpose and meaning in life rather than within.
There are many ways of finding support to help them through their journeys and many different types of support available. Unfortunately, when a person feels sufficiently despondent or needs to rid themselves of troublesome thoughts or feelings quickly and effectively, they reach for the closest thing to hand. Discernment isn’t usually part of the process, so the result is a brief but transitory effect which needs to be repeated for longer than is beneficial, which is when addiction becomes their reality.
How can they change?
Ultimately they need to find themselves again.
They need to understand that they have extraordinary power within themselves. It was never gone, merely focus became outwards into life’s illusion and the measure of themselves became outwards.
If they allow themselves to honor their full potential, allow themselves to receive Divine power rather than seek it elsewhere, they will not feel the need to empower themselves in external ways.
The key is to learn to love one’s true essence, irrespective of what the personality has become. The personality is but a temporary clothing to the soul which is ever constant in Love and of Love and does not need external distraction.
Learning to deeply meditate in communion with the Divine is a good start to change as the experience can be received of feeling complete and full of peaceful calm. Only when those who have addictions can find that peaceful way of being will they happily relinquish external fortification.
This will also help those faced with coping with someone who has an addiction. Understanding that only Love and its application will be helpful – even though this may be the total opposite of what they are feeling – will assist greatly in this process. It will also strengthen them internally, thereby enabling them to be a catalyst for the change they wish to see.
